What is the difference between normal and inverter Air Conditioners?

In conventional ACs, once the desired temperature is reached the compressor is shut down and after sometime when the temperature rises considerably the compressor is restarted. It consumes high starting current each time when the compressor is restarted. On the other side in an inverted AC, once the desired temperature is reached then the compressor will work accordingly to maintain that desired temperature. That means the compressor will consume constant current throughout it's working. So we can say that after long uses inverter AC generates less electricity bill than conventional AC.
