What are VCBs, ACBs, MCCBs, RCBs, RCBOs, MCBs, and ELCBs ?

VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER:

A vacuum circuit breaker is a kind of circuit breaker where the arc quenching takes place in vacuum medium. These are used in 11kV and more.

AIR CIRCUIT BREAKER:

A vacuum circuit breaker is a kind of circuit breaker where the arc quenching takes place in air medium. These are used in 440V.

MOULDED CAST CIRCUIT BREAKER: An MCCB provides protection by combining a temperature sensitive device with a current sensitive electromagnetic device. These provide protection against Thermal Overload, Short Circuits and Earth Faults.

RESIDUAL CURRENT CIRCUIT BREAKER:

These are aimed to protect people from the risk of electrocution and fire that are generally caused due to the faulty wiring. An RCCB is also very useful when a sudden earth fault occurs in the circuit.

RESIDUAL CURRENT CIRCUIT BREAKER WITH OVERLOAD PROTECTION:

This is a combination of RCCB and MCB. It provides protection against overload, short circuit, earth fault and electrocution.

MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKER: An MCB provides protection against overload current and short circuit only

EARTH LEAKAGE CIRCUIT BREAKER:

This provides protection against earth faults only.
