What are the different types of cooling systems that we use in transformers?

Due to losses in the winding and the core, a transformer will heat up and to cool it down, we use different approaches. There are several different ways in which we can cool a transformer down.

Cooling systems for oil-immersed transformers:

1. Oil Natural Air Natural (ONAN)

2. Oil Natural Air Forced (ONAF)

3. Oil Forced Air Forced (OFAF)

4. Oil Forced Water Forced (OFWF)

Cooling systems for dry-type transformers:

1. Air Natural (AN)

2. Air Blast (AB)
