Power electronics is a branch of electrical engineering where we are dealing with high power using some special electronic devices. Mainly power electronics devices are used for the conversion of voltages i.e. AC to DC or DC to AC.
List of some main power electronics devices are given below:
Phase controlled rectifier: Converts AC to DC
Inverter: Converts DC to AC (at the desired frequency)
Chopper: Converts fix DC to variable DC
Cyclo-converter: Converts fix AC to variable AC (at the desired frequency)
