In Non-FLP (Non-Flame Proof) motors, the internal side of the motor is in direct contact with the outside environment. So we can't use it where there is a chance of leakage of certain chemical/gas, because of the spark inside the motor that gas/chemical can ignite. That is why in chemical plants we use FLP (Flame Proof) motors because the internal of the motor is isolated from the outside environment.
